Position Overview
A busy private urology practice in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a full-time Medical Scribe/Assistant. This position is well-suited for pre-med or pre-PA students looking to gain meaningful hands-on clinical experience during a gap year.
The role offers extensive patient interaction, exposure to urologic procedures, and insight into the day-to-day operations of a private medical practice. Teaching sessions and potential research opportunities may also be available.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and document medical histories within the EMR system
- Record physical exam findings, physician assessments, and treatment plans
- Complete visit summaries and coordinate communication with other healthcare providers
- Assist with patient care and act as a liaison between patients and providers
- Set up and explain uroflowmetry testing equipment
- Prepare laboratory cultures
- Assist with operative and minimally invasive procedures
- Counsel patients regarding lab work and coordinate radiology appointments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and completion of premedical coursework
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent typing and organizational abilities
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate EMR systems
Time Commitment
Full-time position with required commitment through June 2027 or later
Compensation
$22 per hour
