Position Overview
A private dermatology practice on the Upper East Side is seeking a motivated and personable Medical Assistant to join the team full-time. This is an excellent gap year opportunity for students interested in gaining hands-on clinical experience in both general and procedural dermatology.
The practice specializes in procedures including biopsies, excisions, and Mohs surgery, and utilizes the Nextech EMR system. Candidates will gain valuable exposure to patient care, dermatologic procedures, and clinical workflow in a fast-paced private practice setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake, medical histories, and chart documentation
- Room patients and prepare examination rooms
- Support dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, excisions, and Mohs surgery
- Sterilize instruments and maintain clinical equipment
- Communicate pathology results to patients
- Provide additional clinical and administrative support as needed
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate EMR systems (Nextech experience is a plus)
- Prior dermatology experience is preferred but not required
Time Commitment
Full-time, Monday through Friday (approximately 8–9 AM to 5–6 PM)
Preferred commitment of 1–2 years
Compensation
$20/hour during training, increasing to $22/hour afterward
