Position Description The Eye Care Center is seeking motivated gap-year students for a one-year paid internship at a leading ophthalmology practice, ideal for those preparing for medical or graduate school. This program offers direct mentorship from experienced physicians and provides hands-on clinical and technical training across multiple practice locations. After a three-month training period as an ophthalmic technician, interns rotate through subspecialties including oculoplastics, general ophthalmology, cornea, optometry, retina, operating room services, and opticianry. Interns gain experience shadowing physicians, observing surgeries, assisting technicians, supporting procedures and scheduling, and learning diagnostic testing, patient care protocols, and clinical documentation. Participants also gain insight into medical practice operations, networking opportunities, and contribute to program growth.

Responsibilities include:

• three-month training period as an ophthalmic technician

Position Requirements

• B.A. or B.S.
• Gap year student
• Strong professionalism, communication skills, teamwork, flexibility, and adaptability are required

Time Commitment Part-time and full-time positions available, Duration: ~ One year

Compensation $18 – $20/hour
