Position Description
The World Trade Center Health Program Clinic at Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking a Student Intern/Research Assistantto support ongoing clinical research and educational initiatives. This volunteer opportunity provides hands-on experience in patient interaction, clinical research, data management, and research administration. It is an excellent opportunity for students interested in medicine, public health, or clinical research to gain experience working with a unique patient population. A paid position may become available in the future, pending grant funding.
Responsibilities include:
- Interviewing patients and obtaining informed consent
- Assisting with respiratory testing and clinical research procedures
- Extracting and entering clinical data from electronic medical records
- Supporting database management and basic statistical analyses
- Conducting literature reviews and bibliographic searches
- Providing administrative support for educational programs and regulatory compliance activities
- Assisting with research coordination and patient engagement
Position Requirements
- Strong interest in clinical research and patient interaction
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access)
- Willingness to learn additional research and database software
- Bachelor’s degree, prior clinical research experience, and/or statistical analysis experience preferred
- Spanish and/or Polish language proficiency preferred
Time Commitment
- Minimum of 20 hours per week (full-time preferred)
- Hybrid schedule with at least 50% of work completed on-site
- One-year commitment preferred
Compensation
Volunteer position (paid position may become available pending grant funding)
