About The Position
The Rapid RCT Lab, led by Leora Horwitz, MD, MHS, is a nationally recognized research team at NYU Langone Health focused on building a learning healthcare system through rapid, practical research.
The lab tests simple, real-world ideas quickly—from using large language models (LLMs) to support kidney transplant decisions to improving discharge communication with patients’ families.
The team is currently seeking an Undergraduate Research Assistant to support ongoing research and evaluation projects.
What You’ll Do
As a Research Assistant, you will:
- Build applied health services research and evaluation skills relevant to healthcare delivery, research, and consulting.
- Develop healthcare knowledge in clinical operations, study design, and digital health innovation.
- Support ongoing rapid randomized controlled trials and applied evaluations across the health system.
- Contribute to manuscripts, conference submissions, IRB protocols, and project briefs.
- Receive meaningful mentorship from a nationally published health-services research team.
Who They’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is:
- A sophomore or junior on a pre-health track, such as pre-med, pre-PA, public health, or a related field.
- Interested in healthcare delivery research and/or healthcare consulting.
- Reliable, motivated, and committed to producing high-quality work.
- Able to commit to the required schedule for a minimum of one academic year.
Time Commitment
- 5–10 hours per week
- Minimum commitment of one academic year
- 2–3 hours in person on Tuesdays or Thursdays
- Remaining hours can be completed remotely
Compensation
Unpaid or eligible for academic credit.
