The interview numbers tell an important story. Only about 6.5% of applicants receive an interview invitation. Of those applicants, roughly 41% ultimately enroll.
This makes the interview stage especially important. If you reach the interview stage, you’ve already demonstrated academic strength on paper. RWJMS uses a multiple mini interview (MMI) format. Your ability to communicate, think critically, and respond to different scenarios can make a major difference.
Like most medical schools, RWJMS conducts holistic review. Their own admissions materials emphasize:

Faculty conducting the MMI don’t have access to your primary or secondary application during the interview itself, so how you show up in the room matters just as much as how you show up on paper.
Strong numbers get you in the door at RWJMS, but they don’t get you the acceptance. With an acceptance rate around 2.7%, the students who make it through combine a highly competitive GPA and MCAT with a clear, authentic story about who they are and why medicine — and, if you’re applying from out of state, a compelling answer to “why RWJMS.”
