About the Opportunity
Musicians On Call brings live and recorded music directly to patients’ bedsides in healthcare environments across the country.
As a Volunteer Guide, you will support the organization’s music programs as a non-musician team member. Volunteer Guides help performers navigate hospital units, connect with patients and families, and create a meaningful source of comfort for patients during their hospital stay.
This opportunity can provide patient-facing experience outside of a traditional clinical or research role and may be particularly relevant for students interested in healthcare and pre-health careers.
What You’ll Do
As a Volunteer Guide, you may:
- Help performers navigate hospital units.
- Support musicians during hospital visits.
- Help facilitate interactions with patients and families.
- Assist with creating a comfortable and welcoming environment.
- Support live and recorded music experiences for patients.
- Work alongside Musicians On Call staff and performers.
Time Commitment
Time commitment varies depending on the hospital program.
Typically, Volunteer Guides participate in a recurring shift on a set schedule.
The volunteer onboarding process may include:
- Video audition
- Background check
- Hospital-specific onboarding and training
Who Can Apply?
This is a non-musician volunteer opportunity. You do not need to be a performing musician to serve as a Volunteer Guide.
