About the NYEE Volunteer Opportunity
The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai (NYEE) operates its own Volunteer Services program, separate from Mount Sinai’s main hospital volunteer services. What You’ll Do
Volunteer responsibilities depend on your department placement and may include:
- Support admitting and patient registration
- Assist in the glaucoma clinic
- Support general ophthalmology clinics
- Assist in otolaryngology clinics
- Provide support in the OR and recovery areas
- Serve as a lobby ambassador
- Assist with Human Resources
- Support nursing administration
- Assist with social services
Requirements
Applicants must complete several steps before beginning their volunteer placement:
- Complete an interview with the Volunteer Services Department
- Provide references through the required request forms
- Obtain medical clearance from your own physician
- Complete TB clearance
- Complete rubella clearance
- TB and rubella clearance are offered free through NYEE Workforce Health
- The complete application and clearance process takes approximately two weeks
