Clinical Research Assistant | Neurology

Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery | 15 hours per week | Duration: 2-year minimum | Start date: March 2026 | Unpaid

Organization NYU Langone Neurointensivist

Position Description NYU Langone Neurointensivist is looking for research volunteers and interns for a prospective cohort study. The project entails completing chart reviews to establish risk factors for infection after acute neurologic injury and to determine their impact on long-term outcomes. This information may lead to the development of improved assessment of prognosis and improved treatment strategies for patients with neurocritical illness. Additionally, data may lead to an intervention to prevent infection, such as a clinical trial of prophylactic antibiotics for patients with acute neurologic injury.

Interns will have the opportunity to gain research and clinical experience reviewing patient charts, earn letters of recommendation, develop skills related to clinical study interpretation, and co-author manuscripts and conference presentations. Interns will primarily assist with retrospective chart review. Research background is not required; however, patience and attention to detail are key. Training will be provided.
